Capsule Geology

The CY 3 occurrence is situated southeast of Treble Mountain near the head of Sutton Glacier, about 23 kilometres southeast of Stewart.

The showing area is underlain by Middle-Upper Jurassic volcanics of the Hazelton Group intruded by Eocene Coast Plutonic Complex intrusive rocks. The volcanics are mainly pyroclastic fragmental rocks in contact with dark green to grey and purple hornblende and feldspar phyric rocks. South of the phyric unit are undivided volcanic and subordinate epiclastic rocks. The volcanic rocks appear to be strongly chloritized with local strong patchy epidote. The intrusive rocks are medium to dark grey, medium grained, equigranular quartz monzonite; commonly epidotized and chloritized.

Mineralization on the property appears to be related to zones of shearing and/or the emplacement of intrusive dikes. Pyrite +/-arsenopyrite+/-chalcopyrite occur within shears. Rock sample LVL-CY3-008 analysed 2.97 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 24831). The grab sample was from a rusty, siliceous shear zone about 20 metres long, striking 250 degrees, with disseminated chalcopyrite and arsenopyrite throughout.

In 1996, an exploration program conducted on behalf of Levelland Energy and Resources Ltd. consisted of reconnaissance geochemical sampling; a total of 534 rock samples were collected.
